I'll be honest with you: I didn't know Badfinger was a band until I googled musicians from Wales. I was familiar with this song, but I never knew who it was by. Now I actually understand the joke that mentions them in the Rifftrax riff of Psycho II (yes, that's an actual movie). 

(edit: the riff I was thinking of is actually from Amityville 4, which is another lousy sequel.)

I mentioned the other day that there were more sad posts to come.  Well, here we go. One of my cats has been very sick and I had to have him put down the other day.   Can't get much sadder than that. If you're of my generation, you might know this tune as the theme song from Married With Children.  I'm sure I've mentioned in the past that I wasn't "allowed" to watch Married With Children. I remember it airing daily in syndication, maybe at 11 at night?  No, 11:30.  I know I shouldn't joke about having been neglected as a child, but you'll often catch me saying it was really easy to get away with watching shows I wasn't supposed to watch when there were no conscious/sober adults around. So I did watch Married With Children more often than I should have, even though I didn't like it. This song popped into my head just now. Not sure why. Not even sure why I remember it so well. Before today, I'd only ever heard it once, when I watched the movie Silk Stockings on TV as a teenager. It felt like a classic, to me, but I'm not actually sure if too many people have seen it. And, in fact, this song is the only thing I remember about the movie. I'd completely forgotten this song existed until I heard an ice cream truck playing it the other day. Okay, so the ice cream truck wasn't actually playing this song. It was playing some other song that reminded me of this song, but close enough. I read an article about something called a Death Cafe, which is a hosted event for people who are close to death. They can attend to talk about death in an open way. A lot of people find it easier to talk to strangers about their own impending death, because talking to family or friends is so fraught with emotion. If you've ever seen a britcom from the 90s called Waiting for God, you will surely remember this music, which was used as the show's theme song. Okay, full disclosure: I had no idea what piece this was or who it was by. I had to look that up. But the internet knows all, so it isn't hard to figure out classical music trivia, these days. The reason I was thinking about Waiting for God is also trivial, though hopefully amusing? My partner has a friend who lives in a retirement residence. When he was visiting this guy the other week, someone else in the building was getting rid of a pair of bedside tables. Since my partner cannot resist garbage furniture, he grabbed them. They've been sitting in the car ever since. Until today, that is. I suggested we bring them in and stick them in the basement until we get a chance to clean them up.
