#SongoftheDay Don't Worry Baby (The Beach Boys)

Image
Sometimes I tell you things I don't tell my partner. Maybe he knows without me having to say. I don't hide my emotions well. So maybe he already knows that I'm worried about him. I'm worried about him because the mouth sores he had during radiation last year have returned. His sense of taste, which had started to come back, is going away again. I am so, so worried that his cancer's coming back, but I don't want to make him worry. He still has to see his oncologist every three months. He's under a doctor's care. I am not a doctor. I'm just a worrier. But maybe he's fine. I hope he's fine. If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and anecdotes, the easiest thing you can do is buy my books (most are for adults only!) or check them out from your local library.  Supporting my  AudioErotica  endeavour on  Patreon  would also help me hugely. I'm also an  Amazon Influencer,  so hopefully I can make a little pocket...

#SongoftheDay Miserlou (Dick Dale and his Del-Tones)

One of my "cool" aunts took me to see Pulp Fiction, which is kind of spectacular to imagine, considering I was only 14 when the movie was released. The movie came to mind yesterday when we listened to that Chuck Berry track, which was also featured in the film. I think I have a photograph somewhere of my aunt and I dancing like John Travolta and Uma Thurman. It never occured to me, when I was a child, that my mother's younger sisters weren't actually that much older than I was. They would have been teenagers when I was born, but they always seemed like adults to me. #SongoftheDay Good Vibrations (Beach Boys)

I almost missed posting today. Would have been the first time ever. I have been SO SICK over the past few days. Couldn't get out of bed. Couldn't even sit up in bed. Couldn't do anything but hold myself in fetal position and hope to feel better soon.  Nothing serious, just the type of thing that makes you completely unable to exist in the world for a little while.  But I'm back and I'm bringing you Good Vibrations.  You didn't even have time to miss me! If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and visits every day, the easiest thing you can do is tell your friends about the site. Tell anyone you know--particularly people who are isolated and enjoy music. Readers of adult fiction can also buy my books or check them out from your local library. Supporting my  AudioErotica  endeavour on  Patreon  would also help me hugely! I'm also an  Amazon Influencer,  so hopefully I can make a little pocket change when you buy s...

#SongoftheDay Wooly Bully (Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs)

This song came on the radio the other day, and I was transported back to childhood. At my friend Julia's sleepover party, we had a lip-synching competition. This is one of the songs my team selected to perform.  We all shoved our hair over our faces so we looked like Cousin Itt. That way, we didn't have to pretend we knew the words, because we didn't. My partner thinks there's something dirty about this song, though he's not sure what, because he doesn't know the lyrics. Neither do I, so it remains a mystery. #SongoftheDay The Little Old Lady From Pasadena (The Beach Boys)

Image
My partner and I had the radio on today. The station played a commercial (for what, I don't know) that was like "Be sure to call a senior in your life because SENIORS are full of WISDOM!" As a certified, card-carrying senior citizen, my partner burst out laughing. Then the commercial said that the senior you call will certainly REASSURE you that everything's gonna be okay. As a senior with no fewer than three therapists on the go, my partner burst out laughing again. There's a lesson, here, about positive stereotyping, because my partner (a senior) found this radio ad both ridiculous and offensive. All day long, I've been begging him to share his wisdom with me, and he's been patting me on the head, asking, "Does this reassure you?" If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and visits every day, the easiest thing you can do is tell your friends about the site. #SongoftheDay Having an Average Weekend [The Kids in the Hall Intro] (Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet)

Image
The music video for The Cranberries' "Linger" that we watched yesterday immediately brought to mind the opening credits from the later seasons of The Kids in the Hall . The theme song is called Having an Average Weekend and it's by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, and I didn't even have to look up that trivia. Why? Because I am just that in touch with my late 80s/early 90s self. No, it's because I've been watching Kids in the Hall DVDs over the past couple years. I loved the show as a youth and, watching it now, I'm blown away by the unapologetically queer content. As an unapologetic queer, it must have shaped my view of my own identity in ways I didn't even realize. Because it's not like queer representation was coming at you hot and fast during that period. The thing that blows me away even more is that all the kids I knew loved this show. We used to act out the skits during talent contests in middle school--no joke! And nobody ever ma...
