#SongoftheDay The Bird's the Word (The Rivingtons)

I have 100% become one of those boring grandparents who talk incessantly about their adorable grandchildren, but who could possibly resist showing off about cuteness? I can't resist. I've tried. It just doesn't work.

My stepdaughter has a couple of rescue birds, one of which is called Poppy. My granddaughter has now learned how to say the word "Poppy" and she calls everything that is (or resembles) a bird by that moniker. The way she pronounces "Poppy" sounds a lot like "puppy," so it seems like she's calling birds dogs, but she's not! She knows what she means, and we know what she means because my stepdaughter explained the intricacies of her little one's language to us.

Their Christmas tree was decorated with many different bird ornaments. My granddaughter would point to each one and say "Poppy" and my stepdaughter would take it down from the tree and hand it to her. She would give the bird a kiss, then hand it back to her mother. Then she'd point to the next bird and say "Poppy" and give it a kiss and so on.

These are the Christmas memories I've been missing my entire adult life. Even though my partner's kids live on the other side of the planet, I'm pleased and touched that I get to spend some time (online) with them at this time of year.

I wonder if kids know how much they make our lives worth living.

If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and anecdotes, the easiest thing you can do is buy my books (most are for adults only!) or check them out from your local library.

Supporting my AudioErotica endeavour on Patreon would also help me hugely.

I'm also an Amazon Influencer, so hopefully I can make a little pocket change when you buy stuff by clicking through my affiliate links.

I also recommend subscribing to my newsletter. I generally e-mail subscribers with a weekly update, and I would LOVE to have you on the list.
