#SongoftheDay That Song In Every Musical That No One Likes (Sarah Smallwood Parsons)
I found a pair of theatre tickets when I was shuffling through a drawer today. We go at the end of the month, if nothing medical comes up.
My partner and I had forgotten about these tickets. His siblings bought them for him as a birthday gift. Feels like centuries ago. We were supposed to see this play in May. As it happens, an exploratory surgical biopsy was booked for precisely that day.
Back when his siblings bought those tickets, we didn't even know he had cancer.
Luckily, the theatre company had no trouble rebooking our tickets for a date months in the future. We thought we'd have breezed through treatments by now. And, while we are done with radiation for the moment, I wouldn't say the process was a breeze.
My partner is in the recovery phase now. He needs to do a lot of healing before his oncologist can even check to see if his treatments were successful.
So, while it's entirely possible (even probable) that we'll be able to use those theatre tickets at the end of the month, cancer will continue to loom over us for the foreseeable future.
If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and anecdotes, the easiest thing you can do is buy my books (most are for adults only!) or check them out from your local library.
