#SongoftheDay I Can't Help Myself/Sugar Pie Honey Bunch (Four Tops)

I've had a couple of horrible migraine days lately. My migraines are triggered largely by changes in the weather, but I don't think staying up half the night to clean the house and get some work done helped.

The funny (not actually funny) thing is that I stayed up so late to work because I knew my partner would be driving into the nearest city to do a big grocery shop. He said he could do it himself because he didn't want to take me away from all the work I'm catching up on. He lives in the tiniest town. There's only one food store here and it is miniscule.

Because of his cancer treatments and us spending so much time at my place this summer, we haven't stocked up on food at his place in months.

So I wanted to come.

I wanted to buy tart shells.

Last weekend I bought local fruit from a farmer here in town (so, yes, there are alternatives to the tiny food store) and I'd prepared tart fillings with these beautiful fruits. I'd even gone so far as to make a few tarts, but the only pie crust I had was dough I made last year. It's been in the freezer all this time. The day I tried baking them was very hot and humid.

It was an all-round failure, like eating cooked Play-Doh. Absolute garbage.

My plan was to buy frozen tart shells and bake tarts when we got home, but a migraine came on when we were shopping and no tarts occurred. I've got the shells now (frozen is better than anything I'm capable of preparing myself), but when I've got a migraine the last thing I want to look at is sugar. Sugar isn't particularly a migraine trigger, for me, but once I'm down for the count, it has zero appeal.

This is kind of a stupid, complainy story. When I compare not being able to bake tarts to the times when I couldn't accompany my partner to his medical appointments or when I accompanied him despite being barely able to hold myself upright, the tarts thing doesn't really matter. I guess the point, if there is one, is that migraines interrupt everything. Every plan. In fact, there's little use in making plans because my migraines are so frequent I can rarely follow through.

If this story needs to have a point to it, I guess that's the point.

If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and anecdotes, the easiest thing you can do is buy my books (most are for adults only!) or check them out from your local library.

Supporting my AudioErotica endeavour on Patreon would also help me hugely.

I'm also an Amazon Influencer, so hopefully I can make a little pocket change when you buy stuff by clicking through my affiliate links.

I also recommend subscribing to my newsletter. I generally e-mail subscribers with a weekly update, and I would LOVE to have you on the list.
