#SongoftheDay Have a Cigar (The Main Squeeze)

My mother has often told me that, when she was a child, she always felt like the favourite of her father's many kids because she was the one he sent to the corner store to buy him a cigar. I forget how much his cigar cost, but my mother was allowed to spend the change on candy.

I was telling my partner this story last night and his response was that it used to be very common for kids to buy cigarettes and such for their parents.

Just when I was starting to feel like a young'un because I don't remember a time when six-year-olds could easily purchase tobacco products, I realized that, when I was young, my grandmother would often buy my siblings and I lotto scratch tickets.  It's something that could easily go into a birthday card.

If we won a couple bucks on a scratch ticket, we'd go to the pharmacy down the street or the lottery kiosk at the mall and swap the winner out for a new ticket.  Well, that's what my sister would do.  I would usually redeem mine for cash, especially if I won the princely sum of five dollars.  A buck in the hand is worth two lotto scratch cards, if you ask me.

Anyway, we did this for many years without any trouble.  And then one time I went into the pharmacy to redeem a ticket for cash--I was probably 15 or 16 at the time--and the person who worked there was like, "I can't cash this in for you. You're not eighteen!"

I kind of went... so what?  What does that have to do with anything? I've been doing this since I was eight!

It had never occurred to me that you were supposed to be over 18 to play the lottery. It had never mattered before. I guess the same was true of my mother buying cigars for her dad.

If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and visits every day, the easiest thing you can do is tell your friends about the site. Tell anyone you know--particularly people who are isolated and enjoy music.

Readers of adult fiction can also buy my books or check them out from your local library. Supporting my AudioErotica endeavour on Patreon would also help me hugely!

I'm also an Amazon Influencer, so hopefully I can make a little pocket change when you buy stuff by clicking through my affiliate links.

But you don't HAVE to do any of that. I'm very happy to get a daily visit from you, so just keep coming back.

Oh, and I also recommend hitting the "Subscribe" button at the top of the page so you won't miss a song!

See you tomorrow!
