I'm a middle-aged person and I'm living with a partner for the first time. My life has changed immensely in the past year.

All my adult life, I've had sex during the day. That's because, until now, I've always been involved with people who were either cheating with me or long-distance or poly or simply promised elsewhere most nights.

I am not used to sharing a bed.  Well, I am now, but until recently I wasn't.

One big difference between then-times and now-times is that my partner and I have most of our sex in the morning or at night. Either or. Sometimes both. It's lots of sex. It's consistent. But it's not daytime sex.

The other morning, we woke up pretty late, so my partner asked, "Should we delay getting up, or should we go for Afternoon Delight?"

I thought that was the cutest question, and I opted for Afternoon Delight because it had been a while. And I find my partner handsome. It's nice to actually see his face when we're having sex.

I do still own this CD. I bought it when it first came out (in 1999? Wow...) and I remember being so proud of it. When I had my best friend over for dinner at my first apartment, I played this album and she was like, "Ugh, turn it off! I HATE baroque music!" heh It came to mind the other week when I was isolating my diseased self at my apartment and my partner was three hours away at his house. He wrote me an email one evening to tell me the classical radio station we listen to had just played Karina Gauvin singing Where'er You Walk, and it brought him to tears. I've got Covid

Hi Friends, Turns out the reason I've been so sick is that I have Covid. I tested negative two days ago, but this morning the test came back positive. I'm in a lot of pain--especially my throat and my head, at the moment--and the pain in my eyes is making it very hard to look at this screen.  So I'm going to take some time off, here, while I recover. When I can comfortably look at my screen and I have the energy to return, you know I'll be back. I mentioned the other day that there were more sad posts to come.  Well, here we go. One of my cats has been very sick and I had to have him put down the other day.   Can't get much sadder than that. My partner drove me to the vet's office. As soon as we got in the car, this song came on the radio. And it wasn't the start of the song. Whether you were a child in the 90s or an adult who just happened to enjoy a quality animated series, you probably loved Pinky and the Brain as much as I did. Cartoons really spoke to me, when I was a kid. My household was plagued by domestic violence, and I swear there were times when cartoons saved me.  I had Strawberry Shortcake bedsheets and a Smurfs blanket, and when the world was crashing down outside my door (literally--there was a lot of crashing in my house), I would burrow under the covers and pretend I was in Cartoon World with all my favourite characters. The other day, I mentioned a dream I had that characterized marriage as being locked in a dull, dark room. Well, the next night I dreamed that I showed up at my aunt's cottage (my aunt doesn't have a cottage) with my wedding dress (I don't have a wedding dress). Clearly, marriage is bubbling around in my unconscious mind. I never wanted to get married, when I was young. Now... I'm not sure I have particularly strong feelings either way. If I lean toward wanting marriage in my life, it's more for practical (legal, financial, etc) reasons, at this point. My partner and I were both self-sufficient adults when we joined forces.
