#SongoftheDay Yo-Yo Man (Smothers Brothers)

Yesterday I mentioned that I have concrete memories of watching Smothers Brothers in the 80s. Maybe I'm remembering this performance? I wonder if it was broadcast on PBS.  Looks like it might have been, and my father was a huge fan of those pledge drive concerts they used to air--and still do. I specifically remember John Denver, The Mamas and The Papas... so many concerts.

My father struggled a lot, in life. At times, he was a fun and attentive dad who took us on bike rides. Other times, he was vicious and violent. I hated him for years--and with good reason--but he's been dead for a long time, now, and the hatred has faded into a kind of understanding. Even camaraderie? Hard to say that about an abuser, but I see now that music helped my father through a lot of his mental and emotional anguish. Music does that for me, too.

It has only just occurred to me, in this very moment we're sharing, that, although I probably inherited some of my mental health issues from my father, he also inadvertently handed me a coping mechanism: music.

I'm grateful for that.

Glad we've got a funny song to go along with a post that turned unexpectedly heavy.

If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and visits every day, the easiest thing you can do is tell your friends about the site. Tell anyone you know--particularly people who are isolated and enjoy music.

Readers of adult fiction can also buy my books or check them out from your local library. Supporting my AudioErotica endeavour on Patreon would also help me hugely!

I'm also an Amazon Influencer, so hopefully I can make a little pocket change when you buy stuff by clicking through my affiliate links.

But you don't HAVE to do any of that. I'm very happy to get a daily visit from you, so just keep coming back.

Oh, and I also recommend hitting the "Subscribe" button at the top of the page so you won't miss a song!

See you tomorrow!
Giselle
