#SongoftheDay Somewhere Down the Crazy River (Robbie Robertson)

As I mentioned a few days ago, my partner and I took a trip to his hometown last week. Even though we've known each other for 20+ years, we've only been romantically involved for about 6 months. We've never gone away together. This was a first.

Our plan is to move forward with our relationship pretty speedily, since we know each other well and... a midlife crisis inspires action, I'll tell you that much.

At one point, we were in our hotel room. I was trying to proofread a book that (fingers crossed) should be coming out later this month. I also had my cottage radio station playing on my computer (this song is one they play every so often).

My partner said, "I don't think I could listen to music all day long."

Shock and horror!

I DO listen to music all day long. Unless I'm watching TV, the radio is on, or I'm listening to an album or I'm working on this blog--which involves a lot of listening to music.

The next day we wanted to go for a walk, but it was raining. He said, "How about you work and I'll read for half an hour, and hopefully by then the rain will have stopped?"

I opened up my computer, and the first thing I wanted to do was turn some music on. But I thought... no, he's reading. He wants quiet.

I've lived alone for almost 20 years. I'm used to doing what I want when I want. I'm not used to respecting someone else's wishes, but I'm quickly realizing relationships require negotiation.

We discussed the music situation extensively on the way home. It's not like he's fundamentally opposed to music, so music will be on at times, but we talked about creating a schedule of when it's music time and when it's quiet time.

Trust me, I will be spending "quiet time" wearing headphones, listening to music. My partner is important to me, but music has saved my life more times than I can count.

If you're wondering how you can support me in bringing you songs and visits every day, the easiest thing you can do is tell your friends about the site. Tell anyone you know--particularly people who are isolated and enjoy music.

Readers of adult fiction can also buy my books or check them out from your local library. Supporting my AudioErotica endeavour on Patreon would also help me hugely!

But you don't HAVE to do any of that. I'm very happy to get a daily visit from you, so just keep coming back.

Oh, and I also recommend hitting the "Subscribe" button at the top of the page so you won't miss a song!

See you tomorrow!
Giselle
